Mega Joker Slot Review UK: Supermeter Maths and the 99% RTP

NetEnt's Mega Joker slot is a 3×3 classic on five fixed lines, with a Supermeter second screen stacked above the base game and a progressive jackpot fed by its own separate pool. The studio's game sheet dates it to 1 October 2008, which is where several review sites' 2013 relisting date comes from.

What this page settles is narrower and more useful than one headline number: which of the three slots called Mega Joker you are actually loading at a GB-licensed site, which RTP configuration that build serves, and what a £ bankroll buys at each one — the detail most online slots RTP tables flatten into a single figure.

TL;DR

Mega Joker in 30 seconds

A long read Sheets read 2 Aug 2026 Provider RTP 99%
  • Three different slots are called Mega Joker. The 99% one is NetEnt's 3×3 classic — read the studio name in the game-info panel first, the RTP line second.
  • Two UKGC lobbies publish other numbers for a game of the same name: 92.18% at Admiral, on the Greentube build, and 95.05% at Grosvenor, across 40 paylines. Neither one is the 99% title. Admiral's own page credits Novomatic and Greentube and describes stacked Joker wilds and a gamble feature — features the NetEnt classic does not carry.
  • The 99% configuration is tied to betting all 10 coins, not to a cash amount. Great Britain's £5 and £2 per-game-cycle caps therefore leave it within reach: ten coins at 50p is £5, exactly the 25-and-over ceiling, and at 20p it is £2, exactly the 18 to 24 ceiling. The cap removes the £10-a-spin rung, nothing more.
  • 17% hit frequency, no wilds, no scatters, no free spins: roughly five spins in six return nothing, and the Supermeter is a stake escalation rather than a bonus round. Its ceiling is 2,000 coins in a game round, while the base game's maximum is 200× your bet — two different labels, and coins are not stake multiples.
  • High-RTP titles are commonly weighted at 0% for bonus wagering. A £20 bonus at 35× is £700 of required turnover, and at a one per cent house edge that turnover carries an expected cost of about £7 — which is precisely why the weighting exists. Open the game-contribution table before you plan a bonus around this one.

04 Verdict

Who Mega Joker suits, and who should skip it

Bet all ten coins and you sit on the 99.00% configuration NetEnt publishes. The same sheet lists a 17% hit frequency and no wilds, scatters or free spins. That trade decides the game for you — not the fruit.

★ Editor's verdict
The maths is the feature, and there is no second one. At the ten-coin bet the studio sheet publishes 99.00% — a one-percent edge — then hands you a Supermeter, a progressive pool and a 200× ceiling per spin. Weigh that against the silence in the RTP arithmetic before you commit a bankroll.

Beyond the score What the numbers can't tell you

Cabinet framing, pixel-clean fruit

The frame is a cabinet: lacquered edges, a lit fascia, and the dual screen split between the base game below and the Supermeter above. Cherries, bells and the joker are drawn clean enough to read at a glance, with no clutter competing for the eye. It is plain 2D work, and it shows its age.

Two screens, one decision.

No music bed, only the reels

There is no soundtrack. Effects carry the whole game: the mechanical clack of each reel stopping, the coin patter of a paid line, and the tone that climbs as the Supermeter fills. Silence does the pacing work a score would do elsewhere, which is precisely why the dry stretches feel dry.

The fruit machine, faithfully quoted

British memory fills in a great deal here: the fruit symbols, the coin-fed logic, the second screen that a pub cabinet would have called the gamble. That familiarity lets you read the layout in seconds. It also misleads, because there are no nudges and no ladder — only a transfer, and your decision about it.

fruit machine supermeter 5 fixed lines local progressive no free spins netent 2008

The collect-or-transfer decision

A session is mostly waiting. At a 17% hit frequency roughly five spins in six return nothing, and no feature arrives to break the quiet. Then a win lands and the game asks its only question: bank it, or push it upstairs into the Supermeter. That is real money you already hold.

Why a five-line classic still earns shelf space

Modern slots buy attention with features. This one spends its entire budget on the return: 99.00%, published by the studio, a penny of edge on every pound turned over. The maths is the feature. It is a narrow proposition, and for the players it fits, very little else on the shelf competes.

The maths is the feature — there is no second one.

The build that loads here is the one three of the lobbies below actually serve: Greentube's 40-line Mega Joker, Novomatic's online arm. Five reels, forty lines, and every credit on screen is play money. The progressive pool sits outside it — that pool exists only in real-money play, funded by real bets and awarded on a randomly selected round.

It is deliberately not the NetEnt 99% classic — and that is the point of this page. Two seconds of play settles which build a lobby has handed you: five reels and forty lines is this Novomatic engine; three reels and five fixed lines, with a Supermeter above them, is the NetEnt build that carries the 99% figure. Read the studio credit at the foot of the game window before you read any RTP line.

99% at max bet — and what the GB cap really costs

One published return, one condition: 99.00% for betting all ten coins. Ten coins at 50p is £5 — exactly the adult stake ceiling. Every sum below is arithmetic on published figures.

Maths audit Nathalie Côté Published figures only

The Mega Joker Edge Framework — four pillars for UK stakes

1 · The RTP reality band

The studio publishes exactly one number — 99.00% — and ties it to max-bet play. The low-stake figures quoted elsewhere disagree with each other: some print 76.9%, others 85.28%, and neither appears on NetEnt's own sheet. So the figure that governs your session is the one in that lobby's game-info panel — check it before your first spin.

2 · The Supermeter is a transfer, not a bonus

Base-game wins can be moved up to the Supermeter, where the paytable pays more and the stake rises to 20, 40, 100 or 200 coins. Collect returns those credits to your cash balance; transfer sends them back through the reels at the higher stake, multiplying expected turnover — and turnover is what the edge is charged on.

3 · GB stake caps vs the max-bet condition

The 99% configuration is tied to betting all ten coins, not to a cash amount. Ten coins at 10p is £1; at 20p, £2 — the 18–24 ceiling; at 50p, £5 — the 25-and-over ceiling; at £1, £10, the one rung the cap removes. GB's caps take away the biggest cash stake, not the 99% setting. The limits: £5 per game cycle at 25 or over, live 9 April 2025; £2 at 18–24, live 21 May 2025, under the Gambling Act 2005 (Operating Licence Conditions) (Amendment) Regulations 2025.

4 · Jackpot funding is a levy on the base return

The pool is fed from base-game wagering — the studio sheet says it grows each time the basic game is played, and a 3% contribution rate is the figure review desks quote, eligibility needs max bet in the basic game, and the pool is awarded on a randomly selected game round. Below max bet you pay the contribution without holding the eligibility. Keep all ten coins inside your age-band cap and the eligibility comes with it.

Reading the RTP line in a GB lobby

  • 1 · Open the game, not the tile.
  • 2 · Open its info or paytable panel.
  • 3 · Read the studio name first, the RTP line second.

High volatility on a five-line classic means something narrower than elsewhere. A 17% hit frequency puts roughly five spins in six on nothing, and with no wilds, no scatters and no cascades the variance comes almost entirely from five-of-a-kind hits and the Supermeter's mystery wins. Feature-driven top online slot games spread it differently: paylines become ways, and variance arrives through free-spins multipliers.

Some "highest RTP" round-ups over-promise for one reason: they quote the ceiling without naming the stake condition, and several attach it to the wrong studio's game — which is how a list of slots with the highest rtp ends up recommending a 92.18% cabinet port. Ask what slot games pay the best and the useful answer names the build, the stake and the panel: why the highest-payout slots aren't automatically the best.

The edge is not what ends sessions Variance is: at 17% five spins in six return nothing, no feature bridging the gap. Never chase a loss by staking up.

For scale, blackjack at basic strategy runs roughly a 0.5% house edge, so £100 of turnover there costs about 50p — half the expected cost here at its best configuration, though the payouts arrive in far smaller units. And mega joker draftkings searches land on a US lobby: DraftKings Casino is not available in Great Britain, and the US payout guide covers that side.

The next step is one setting. Choose a coin value that puts all ten coins on or under your age-band cap — 50p at 25 and over, 20p at 18–24 — or drop the stake and accept a different configuration knowingly. Set a deposit limit in the operator's responsible-gambling panel first, then confirm the studio name in the panel.

How the Supermeter actually plays

Five fixed lines on a 3×3 grid and a second screen you feed by choice. Max win 200× your bet a spin; the Supermeter round caps at 2,000 coins.

Feature

The transfer, and the second paytable

Collect a base-game win, or transfer it upstairs. In the Supermeter the bet steps to 20, 40, 100 or 200 coins at your pre-selected coin value, and the same fruit pays from an uplifted table. Mystery wins arrive on the joker, sized by its position and your bet: at bet 100, a middle-reel joker pays 100–2,000 coins. Both ceilings: 200× your bet a spin, 2,000 coins a Supermeter round.

Rhythm

Five lines, a very short loop

Three reels and five fixed lines resolve in one beat: spin, read, collect or transfer, spin. The dead stretches sit where the 17% hit frequency puts them — five spins in six return nothing, and with no wild, no scatter and no free spins, nothing softens a gap. No autoplay either.

Heritage

Cabinet furniture, none of the ladder

Pure arcade on the surface: fruit symbols, a mechanical reel-stop, a meter above the reels you feed by choice. Left behind is the rest of the British fruit-machine grammar — no nudges, no holds, no trail to climb. The Supermeter is a bet-up gamble dressed as a feature: a 2008 tribute to the cabinet, not a port.

Turnover

What an hour costs

Fifty pence a spin is five 10p coins — one per line, not the ten-coin setting the 99% figure is tied to. Two pounds is ten 20p coins: max bet, five lines. With a game cycle floored at 2.5 seconds, an unbroken hour tops out near 1,440 spins: £720 turned over at 50p, £2,880 at £2 — roughly £28.80 expected cost on the 1% edge.

Cross-device

Drawn for a desktop, played on a phone

The presentation is 2D, and reviewers are consistent it was never optimised for mobile. The dual screen is the pinch point: base reels and Supermeter both want room, so in portrait the bet and transfer controls become the smallest targets. Open the lobby demo first — check the Supermeter reads at a glance and the game-info panel opens.

Art

Pixel-clean fruit, mechanical stops

Cherries, lemons, oranges, melons, grapes and bells are drawn crisp rather than detailed, which is why they still read at a glance. The joker carries the only real animation, a flourish as a mystery win resolves. Audio is effects only: a click on each reel stop, a coin cascade over a win, a tone climbing as the Supermeter bet steps up. No music bed.

08 Symbols & paytable

Nine symbols, two views, and no scatter anywhere

Every figure below is a coin payout for three of a kind, and each moves with the bet level you set. The chips group each symbol by the view its band sits in.

Reading the paylines

Five lines are fixed across a 3×3 grid, so line count — not a ways or cluster engine — sets the hit pattern: three positions a reel, five routes through them. Which is why there is no wild, no scatter and no free-spins round in this paytable; the Supermeter is the only feature. Coins convert at the value you picked — at a 50p coin value a 200-coin base-game payout returns £100. One worked example, not a fixed price.

09 One name, three games

Three slots, one name — and the 99% one is the odd game out

Two studios ship a game called Mega Joker. In Britain's mainstream lobbies the build you load is usually not the NetEnt classic, and its published return is 92.18% or 95.05% — not 99%.

The Where to Play table labels every row with which Mega Joker that lobby carries.

Both studios ship a game called Mega Joker and the two share nothing but the title. Grosvenor's own game page publishes 95.05% and 40 paylines; Admiral's publishes 92.18%, five reels and 40 lines, and credits Greentube — Novomatic's online arm. Neither is the 99% classic, and neither page is wrong: each describes a different slot.

The mix-up runs right through the market, and it is worth naming without mockery. LeoVegas's game slug is literally mega-joker-novo and its info panel names Novomatic, while the page's own description says NetEnt. Casino Guru lists a third title, Mega Joker Jackpot, at 96.03%.

Read the studio before the RTP

  • Studio name first. NetEnt is the 3×3 classic with the 99% configuration on the table; Novomatic or Greentube is the 40-line build.
  • RTP line second. 99.00%, 95.05% and 92.18% are three different slots, not three moods of one.
  • Grid third. Three reels and five fixed lines, or five reels and 40 paylines.
  • A search like joker casino game returns joker-themed titles from other studios: different games, different maths.

Bonuses, wagering and whether Mega Joker counts

Every wagering multiple here is read from terms. GB desk: 37 offers on file (1 currently active); latest offer verification 6 July 2026.

Why a 99% game is usually excluded from wagering

The commercial logic 0%typical weighting Clearing a bonus on a 1% edge is near-free turnover, so operators weight the highest-return titles at 0% or exclude them outright. Ordinary pricing, not a trap.
Named in the wild 99%as UK desks quote it UK comparison desks note high-return games are often excluded from casino bonuses; an April 2026 UK list names Mega Joker among the excluded.

How to check the weighting in three moves

Move 02 · Two searches Mega Joker, then NetEnt The same title exists from another studio.

Worked example — what a wagering multiple costs

Step 01 · Turnover £20 at 35× = £700 Bonus only, 100% weighting assumed.
Step 02 · Cost at 96% £700 × 0.04 = £28 More than that wagering multiple hands you.
Step 03 · Cost at 99% £700 × 0.01 = £7 Near-free turnover — exactly why a 99% configuration tends to be weighted at 0%. Check the table first.

Studio credit first, RTP line second. Two GB lobbies publish 92.18% and 95.05% under this name; neither is the NetEnt classic.

Reading the columns. Grosvenor’s page states a £250,000 max payout, Jackpot: No and a 40p minimum bet. LeoVegas serves it as mega-joker-novo. Admiral’s Mega Joker™ runs 5 reels and 40 lines, bet range £0.40–£4. PlayOJO credits NetEnt and 99% in another market — confirm through the UK lobby’s NetEnt filter.

A five-point check before you deposit

1 · Licence — a UKGC number in the footer, checked on the public register. 2 · The GamStop mark. 3 · £ balances and GB rails — debit card, Open Banking, PayPal, Apple Pay; no credit cards for gambling in Great Britain. 4 · Bonus terms in one place — wagering, weighting, max cashout. 5 · The game-info panel — studio first, RTP second.

If you searched “mega joker draftkings”

DraftKings Casino is a US-market lobby, not available to players in Great Britain; British players reach the NetEnt title through the lobbies above. For the American side, see why the highest-payout slots aren’t automatically the best.

Can I reach the 99% setting at a £2 stake?

NC
Nathalie Côté Maths

Yes. It is tied to all ten coins, not a cash amount: 10 × 20p is exactly £2. The panel is the check.

Does the Supermeter improve my odds or just my stake?

CW
Claire Wilson Reviewer

Both rise together — the paytable and the stake. It is an escalation, not free play.

Read the studio name in the info panel. 40 paylines means the Novomatic-family build.

18 Frequently asked questions

What British players ask about Mega Joker

From live People Also Ask results, Great Britain.

01

What is the RTP for Mega Joker?

NetEnt publishes one figure, 99.00%, tied to betting all ten coins. Reduced-coin play returns less, and the third-party numbers quoted for it disagree. The figure governing your session is in that lobby’s game-info panel.

02

What's the max win on Mega Joker?

Two labels, not one: 200 × your bet on a spin, and a 2,000-coin cap on one Supermeter round. The progressive pool sits outside both. Listings printing “2,000×” mix coins with stake multiples.

03

Is Mega Joker a high volatility slot?

NetEnt leaves the volatility field blank on its own game sheet, so “high” is third-party consensus, not a published spec. The maths agrees: five fixed lines, no wilds, scatters or free spins, a 17% hit frequency.

04

How do you play the Mega Joker slot?

One coin activates one of five fixed lines, so ten coins buys them all — the max-bet condition. Wins can move up to the Supermeter, where the bet steps to 20, 40, 100 or 200 coins. There is no autoplay: set the coin value first.

05

What casinos have mega Joker slots?

In Great Britain the UKGC-licensed lobbies above each list a Mega Joker — not the same one. Filter by NetEnt for the 99% classic, then confirm the studio credit in the panel.

06

What slot has 99% RTP slot machine?

Mega Joker’s own sheet says 99.00% at max bet; Ugga Bugga publishes 99.07%, Blood Suckers around 98%. A published percentage is a long-run average, not a session forecast — read it beside the volatility line.

07

What are the odds of winning on joker slots?

NetEnt publishes a 17% hit frequency, so roughly five spins in six return nothing. That is the pacing, not a fault — set a session limit before the first spin.

08

What are the new gambling laws in the UK 2026?

The live change is the online slots stake cap: £5 per game cycle at 25 and over from 9 April 2025, and £2 for 18–24 from 21 May 2025. Slots only, not roulette.

09

Can a casino deny you your winnings?

A GB licensee can void a bonus win under its published terms — usually a breached max-bet-while-wagering or irregular-play clause. Cash play is unaffected. If you disagree, use the complaints process, then the named ADR provider.

10

How long can a gambling company hold your money?

Identity and source-of-funds checks on larger cashouts are a standard GB requirement; a withdrawal stays pending until they clear. Upload what the cashier asks for, then escalate through complaints and ADR.

11

Is there a trick to winning on slot machines?

No. A certified generator has no memory, so no stake pattern or spin rhythm changes a configured return. The only lever is which configuration you play — ten coins, at a coin value your limits allow.
