5 Frogs Slot Review — Aristocrat’s Super Feature, RTP, Where to Play

Last updated

5 Frogs Slot US Review is an independent review from SlotsGamblers, built on dealer cabinet listings, published hands-on descriptions and New Jersey’s published slot rules.

Aristocrat built 5 Frogs on the Viridian Widescreen cabinet, GEN7 platform, sold on one idea: you choose the shape of your free games. It is a floor machine, so 5 Frogs slot free play means demo pages, and 5 Frogs slot online in the US means similar-mechanic titles in state-licensed lobbies — the full picture sits below.

No rights-cleared 5 Frogs demo exists to embed, and no state-licensed US lobby carries the game today. 21+ · T&Cs apply ¹

TL;DR

5 Frogs in 30 seconds

On floors by mid-2018 5 Super Feature options 40 credits a spin
  • ✓

Aristocrat built it, not Bally. One independent comp database files 5 Frogs under Bally Technologies. Every other source, and every cabinet on the resale market, names Aristocrat’s Viridian Widescreen.

  • ✓

It pays all ways, not on 40 lines. Reel Power pays matching symbols on adjacent reels from reel one. The 40 elsewhere is the minimum bet in credits: 25 for the base game, 15 for the Super Feature.

  • ✓

The Super Feature is a choice. The documented ends run from 25 free games at 2×/3×/5× to 10 free games at 10×/15×/40×, with a Mystery pick that draws both.

  • !

No state-licensed US online casino carries it. Aristocrat’s Buffalo reached regulated US online play at BetMGM in New Jersey on 5 September 2023, so the studio’s floor titles can make that jump. This one has not.

  • ✓

Your next step. Play the mechanic rather than the machine: state-licensed lobbies carry choose-your-free-games slots, and the cabinet stays a floor find tracked by dated player tags.

04 Verdict & scorecard

Why the 5 Frogs slot scores 6.0 — and what the Super Feature buys

A sharp free-games trade-off on a floor cabinet, with almost none of its maths published.

5 Frogs asks something few machines ask you to decide: how many free games would you trade for a bigger multiplier? That screen is why you sit down. The maths under it is not published as a public figure for this cabinet, and no state-licensed US lobby carries the cabinet.

Beyond the score The full experience — past the numbers

The symbol set

Gold lantern, pink flower, bonsai tree and wishing well above the card royals; the Yin Yang scatter carries the feature. Readable at a glance.

One symbol is disputed in print: sources split over whether the frog or the lantern is wild.

The five rungs

Twenty-five free games at 2×/3×/5× at one end, ten at 10×/15×/40× at the other, Mystery between. Free games won on the reels, not a bonus offer: no wagering requirement attaches.

The power rung packs its return into 60% fewer outcomes — the ladder section runs the arithmetic.

The free-games draw

Three, four or five Yin Yangs on consecutive reels from reel 1 open the free games; a frog in a paying win pulls one of your three multipliers onto it.

Size the session for the wait, not the round: the feature carries the game on no schedule.

Availability verdict

Two rows set this score: the choice mechanic at 8.0 against availability at 3.0. The machine is good; the online route does not exist.

Six rows, 36.0 points, 6.0 out of 10 — arithmetic, not feeling.

Is there a 5 Frogs free play demo — and what does the search actually return?

A free-play build would not mirror the floor cabinet’s configuration anyway, so any demo you find is worth a feel for the choice screen, never the maths. Free games are won on the reels here, not handed out as a bonus offer, so no wagering requirement attaches to them. For the same choose-your-free-games shape at a state-licensed casino, the operator list below is your next step.

06 RTP, house edge & what $100 buys

RTP on a floor cabinet is a range, not a number — plus the arithmetic on your $100

Aristocrat publishes no single return for this cabinet. New Jersey sets the minimum, the property picks the configuration, and the help screen settles yours.

A land-based game ships as a set of operator-selectable par configurations. Before approval the manufacturer files a mathematical explanation of the theoretical return, percentage calculation sheets, reel strip images and symbol weights with the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement’s Slot Laboratory. The same rule caps movement: RTP may not fall more than one-hundredth of a percentage point per increased wager, or half a point in aggregate (§ 13:69E-1.28A(d)). Your checkable source is the help screen; ask the attendant if it is missing.

The gap
$12.00 3,530 spins · floor vs illustration
At the 83% floor

Run it on any machine: cost per $100 cycled = $100 × (1 − RTP) — $17.00 at 83%, $5.00 at 95%. Survivability = bankroll ÷ (bet × (1 − RTP)), so at the $0.40 minimum that is $100 ÷ ($0.40 × 0.17) ≈ 1,470 spins against $100 ÷ ($0.40 × 0.05) = 5,000.

Which configuration applies is the property’s choice from the filed menu, and no figure is published for this cabinet — so plan against the statutory floor. The 95% row is an illustration, not a setting known to exist on this title. Variance dominates any single sitting; these are planning figures, not forecasts. This is the price of ordinary cash play — not a promotion, and no wagering or playthrough attaches.

Three upgrades ride on the side bet: a random award at the end of any paid game with no scatters needed; up to 15 extra free games on top of your pick; and the lowest one or two multipliers removed from your set.

There is no jackpot layer on this cabinet

5 Frogs is not a jackpot title. The round-level ceiling comes from the free-games multiplier set you choose, not a progressive that climbs with play. Session footage captioned JACKPOT describes a large handpay on one round, not a jackpot tier.

Where every number here comes from The regulation, or our arithmetic on it

The line we drew. The 83% minimum and the wager-movement cap come from N.J. Admin. Code § 13:69E-1.28A; the filing requirement from the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement’s Slot Laboratory. Every dollar figure is our arithmetic on those inputs.

07 The Super Feature Risk Ladder

The Super Feature Risk Ladder: five rungs, and the one that fits the money in front of you

The choice screen is the only real decision this cabinet asks of you. The pages that rank for it describe the screen; none of the ones we read turns it into a decision.

✦Two rungs verified, five on screen
The decision

What the choice screen is actually asking

Trigger the free games with the Super Feature paid and the machine offers a trade: fewer free games at a bigger multiplier set, or more at a smaller one. Two rungs are documented: 25 free games at 2×, 3× or 5×, and 10 free games at 10×, 15× or 40×. With the Mystery pick, that is three of the five options on the screen. The two combinations between the ends are printed only on the machine’s help screen, so read it before you commit.

Reading the ladder in multiplier-units

Multiply the free games by the middle multiplier of the set and you get a rough unit of exposure. Volume rung: 25 × 3× ≈ 75 multiplier-units, spread across 25 chances for a frog to land in a paying combination. Power rung: 10 × 15× ≈ 150 multiplier-units, packed into 60% fewer outcomes (10 games against 25). Concentration widens the spread of results without changing the long-run expectation: the same return arrives through fewer, larger events. These are free games won on the reels, not a bonus offer, and no wagering requirement attaches to them.

Matching a rung to your bankroll

Work in spins, not dollars. At the $0.40 minimum with the side bet on: $60 ÷ $0.40 = 150 spins, $120 ÷ $0.40 = 300, $250 ÷ $0.40 = 625.

150 spins. Too short to absorb a dry power round. Take the volume rung: 25 games at 2×/3×/5× give the frogs the most chances to appear. 300 spins. Take the power rung only if you can still leave 100 spins — $40 — untouched when the round ends. 625 spins. Deep enough for Mystery, whose ceiling is 25 games at 10×/15×/40×. Decide the figure before you sit down, and stop at it.

Where this profile sits against licensed US alternatives

No state-licensed US online lobby carries 5 Frogs. The route Aristocrat’s floor titles take is real and dated: Buffalo reached BetMGM’s New Jersey lobby on 5 September 2023, and the note under the operator table gives BetMGM’s own announcement date. The position is narrow rather than closed — this cabinet has not made the jump, Buffalo has.

08 Game inside

How 5 Frogs actually plays, tab by tab

Six tabs, in the order the questions arrive.

★ Free games, won on the reels

The free-games trigger

Three, four or five Yin Yang scatters on consecutive reels from reel one open the free games. A Super Feature mark on the third one upgrades the round. Inside it, a frog symbol in a paying combination draws one of the three multipliers in your set — a symbol some published descriptions say is not on the reels at all, which is the sharpest reason to read the help screen before you pick. These are free games won on the reels, not a bonus offer, so no wagering attaches.

✦ Reel Power · no lines

How Reel Power pays

No paylines to switch on: a win is the same symbol on adjacent reels from the left, so the bet buys reel coverage. The published hands-on description says Aristocrat games of this type “can also be a dead spin bonanza” between rounds. No hit frequency is published for this cabinet.

✦ 5 Dragons · Buffalo · Pompeii

The Super Feature family

5 Frogs is one of three Super Feature games from Aristocrat. This one is built on the 5 Dragons mechanic, Sunset King on Buffalo, Fortunes of Atlantis on Pompeii. Each adds the same thing: an optional side bet that rewrites the free-games round. Decline the +15 credits and it plays like classic 5 Dragons.

✦ The price of the bolt-on

25 + 15 = 40 credits, a 60% increase

Priced in credits: 25 for the base game, 15 for the side bet, 40 in total. At a penny that is $0.25 to $0.40 a spin, so 200 spins cost $80 instead of $50. Ordinary cash play, not a promotion, so no wagering or playthrough applies. Full walkthrough: the maths section.

✦ Cabinet, not an app

The 5 frogs slot machine app question

This title is a floor cabinet, and no real-money digital build has been verified for US players. No real-money app build of this cabinet has been confirmed. The studio does cross over — one of its floor titles already reached a licensed US lobby, with the date on it in Where to play.

✦ Viridian Widescreen · GEN7

Viridian Widescreen, on the GEN7 platform

The cabinet is the Viridian Widescreen on Aristocrat’s GEN7 platform, a widescreen LCD with 13-button panel support per the cabinet’s product description — the current cabinet product page lists a 22-inch screen, so screen size differs between the current cabinet and older units. Paid spins stay calm. The free games change register, and one of the ranking clip titles leads on the music rather than on the win.

Five options on the choice screen, two ends documented

The selection trades free games against multipliers across five combinations, one of which is a Mystery pick that assigns both at random. The steps between the two ends are printed only on the machine’s own help screen.

09 Symbols & paytable

The 5 Frogs paytable: two published values, and the rest on the machine

Eleven symbols plus the free-games row. One of the eleven is the scatter that opens the round. Aristocrat publishes no public paytable for this cabinet, so the table prints what is documented and names what is not.

Free gamesOpened by Yin Yang scatters
Three, four or five Yin Yang scatters on consecutive reels from reel one open the round; a Super Feature mark on the third upgrades it. These are free games won on the reels, not a bonus offer, so no wagering attaches to what they pay.

Which symbol actually carries a session

The Yin Yang. It is the route into the free games you can build for — the Super Feature side bet adds a second, unbuildable one — and it has to land from reel one across consecutive reels, which is a harder shape to build than a scatter that pays from anywhere.

Both published values are quoted against the 25-credit base game bet, not the 40-credit total. A multiplier holds at any denomination; the cash behind it does not, so the same 40× is worth ten times more at a dime than at a penny. A rival’s transcription is not a source — the paytable on the cabinet is.

Five other frogs, and why none of them is this one

Search around this title and at least five different frog slots come back — Google’s own results for 5 Frogs return five, and the databases add more. No ranking page separates them, and one shares the name outright — the easiest way to end up reading the wrong maths for the machine in front of you.

Buying the cabinet

5 Frogs units reach the private market: US dealers list the Viridian Widescreen cabinet at $2,795 against a $4,000 original, and another at $4,095 against a $4,495 retail. Listings specify the bill acceptor. Private ownership is a state-by-state question — check your own state’s statute before you buy.

10 Where to play

Where the 5 Frogs cabinet turns up — and which licensed lobbies a US player can open

Two answers, kept apart. The cabinet stands on casino floors, and the record of where is player-submitted. Online, no state-licensed US lobby carries the title, so the table below is a licensing table, not a game list.

The list goes stale; the method does not Eleven player tags on that listing; six properties are listed, five with a full date — February 2019 to December 2025 — a player-submitted record, never an official placement list. Work it in this order: a player-maintained slot-finder listing, the property’s own game search, then a call to the floor.

One Aristocrat title already made the jump On 5 September 2023 BetMGM announced Aristocrat’s Buffalo live for real-money online play in New Jersey, through Anaxi — the studio’s online arm — with Pennsylvania and Michigan to follow. 5 Frogs has not made that jump: a dated precedent, not a promise.
Before the deposit

Checking a licensed operator before you deposit

Five checks, fastest first.

  • Find the license on the regulator’s own register. The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement, Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, Michigan Gaming Control Board and the West Virginia Lottery are the bodies to start from — the regulator’s own site, never an aggregator.
  • Open the operator’s own state-availability page. It is where the operator itself names its live states, with a revision date.
  • Find the self-exclusion route before you fund anything. It sits on the operator’s responsible-gaming page and with the regulator you just checked.
  • Open the cashier and read it in $. The deposit and withdrawal methods, their limits and any fee sit on the operator’s own banking page, and they differ by state — read it on deposits and withdrawals.
  • Read the wagering terms in full before you claim a bonus. The multiple, its base, game weighting, the max bet while a bonus is live and the cashout cap all sit there.

The two legal routes to slots online in the US

As of 8 August 2026 two separate bodies of law sit behind the phrase “online slots” — different products, not a contradiction. In the real-money licensing frame, a regulated online casino exists in a limited set of states, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Michigan and West Virginia among them; Delaware and Rhode Island run a lottery-operated, single-platform model, so the operator choice on this page does not apply there. In the sweepstakes frame, the route elsewhere is free-to-play with prize redemption rather than real-money casino play, and eligibility depends on your state; the regulator’s own site is the current source. This page ranks no sweepstakes brand. The state-by-state picture sits with our US casino rankings.

11 Player voice · The public record

What players say about 5 Frogs — three themes, no names

The public record for this cabinet is published session footage — dated recordings that show the choice screen and the round that follows. We read it as three columns: what lands, what frustrates, what surprises — paraphrased and anonymous.

Filter by sentiment
What lands: the sound and the moment One dated clip title

The free-games music is a draw in its own right — one ranking clip is titled around it rather than around the win. The upgrade moment is the Super Feature one: the third Yin Yang landing with the mark on it, upgrading the round before a free game is played.

Published session footage 2018 onward · no names
What frustrates: the gaps What the published description warns about

Long stretches between features. The base game can run a long way between triggers, and the hands-on source describes this family as capable of a dead-spin run. Taking the +15-credit Super Feature side bet raises the cost of that waiting by 60%.

Published hands-on review · read 8 Aug 2026 Paraphrased, no names
What surprises: the choice itself The choice screen, as described

Volume or power? The published descriptions of the choice screen list both ends — 25 free games at 2×/3×/5×, 10 at 10×/15×/40× — and the Mystery pick; one dated recording shows the Mystery option taken. The Super Feature ladder settles that with arithmetic, not preference. These are free games won on the reels, not a bonus offer — no wagering attaches.

Published choice-screen descriptions Paraphrased, no names

Reading the sentiment against the fact core

The quiet that players describe is not a fault report. It is what a game built to concentrate its return into one chosen multiplier set feels like: take the power rung and you buy fewer outcomes at a higher price each.

The six steps, and what we check

1. The studio’s published maths. What we check: RTP configurations, volatility, the paytable and the feature rules.
2. The regulator record. What we check: state approved-game lists, license numbers on the regulator’s own register, and the standards for configuration changes.
3. The operator’s game build. What we check: the live lobby, the in-client RTP disclosure, the denomination range.
4. The bonus terms. What we check: wagering multiple and base, slot contribution, max bet, cashout cap, expiry, eligible states — from the operator’s own terms.
5. The cashout. What we check: payment rails in $, the stated withdrawal window, KYC documents, fees.
6. The re-check. What we check: every offer and figure on a fixed cadence, logged in the changelog.

Three questions readers bring to the desk

Answered by the desk that wrote this page.

Where these answers come from Each answer below is built from a named source and dated: New Jersey’s published slot rules, the Division of Gaming Enforcement’s Slot Laboratory, and BetMGM’s own New Jersey page, read 8 August 2026. Questions reach the desk through the author profiles above.
Q

Can you play Aristocrat’s 5 Frogs for real money online in the US, or is it a floor machine?

A

It is a floor cabinet. No operator, regulator or Aristocrat source lists 5 Frogs for real-money online play in the United States — checked 8 August 2026 — so the accurate framing is that this title has not made the jump, not that Aristocrat games cannot. Following its stablemate would take the same path: a rebuild for online play through the studio’s real-money arm, an operator taking it, and state approval before it reaches a lobby. None of that has happened here. For the nearest thing you can play tonight, the operator table above lists licensed lobbies carrying comparable choose-your-free-games slots.

Q

Does the RTP change from one property to another?

A

Not on the day, and not by mood. A land-based Aristocrat title ships as a set of par configurations — a fixed menu of theoretical returns built by the studio. The operator selects one from that menu when the machine is installed, which is why the same cabinet can run a different figure in two different properties. In New Jersey each configuration’s maths is filed with the Division of Gaming Enforcement’s Slot Laboratory and approved before the game reaches a floor. The figure that applies to the machine in front of you sits on its own help screen.

Q

Do casinos change machine settings for weekends or promotions?

A

Not quickly, and not by a floor manager. In New Jersey a manufacturer must file a mathematical explanation of the theoretical return, percentage calculation sheets, reel strip images and symbol weights with the Division of Gaming Enforcement’s Slot Laboratory (Technical Services Bureau) before a game is approved. An industry account of the procedure describes changing a machine’s payback as a chip and firmware operation a technician performs against that filed worksheet — “not something that a casino can do quickly”. What changes from one session to the next is volatility: 5 Frogs is amped up against its parent game, so it runs long dead stretches and then pays in bursts.

Play within your budget

21+, or your state’s minimum age where it is higher — and you must be physically inside a licensed state to play online. Set a session budget before the first spin and treat it as the price of the entertainment.¹

Worth acting on: chasing a loss back, staking more than you planned, or borrowing to play. Set a deposit limit and a stop rule before you sit down, or take a time-out. Free, confidential help is on 1-800-GAMBLER, the line US operators print; the National Council on Problem Gambling runs its own on 1-800-MY-RESET (1-800-697-3738).

Access depends on your state and changes over time; the regulator’s own site is the current source. Licensed lobbies link your state’s self-exclusion program from the account menu, and the terms differ by state.²

17 Frequently asked questions

The seven questions the ranking pages for 5 Frogs leave half-answered

Six are questions the ranking pages for this title publish; the seventh answers the studio credit those pages disagree on. Each is answered against a named source on 8 August 2026.

01

Can I play 5 Frogs for free?

There is no rights-cleared demo build of this Aristocrat cabinet, and it is not in our licensed demo catalog. Third-party pages that advertise a 5 Frogs demo often then report it unavailable, so treat the cabinet’s own help screen on a casino floor as the free look.

02

Are there free spins in 5 Frogs?

Yes. Three, four or five Yin Yang scatters on consecutive reels from reel one open the free games, and you pick your rung — 25 games at 2×/3×/5×, or 10 at 10×/15×/40×. These are won on the reels, not a bonus offer, so no wagering attaches.

03

How many paylines does 5 Frogs have?

None in the usual sense. It is a Reel Power, all-ways-pays game: matching symbols on adjacent reels from reel one pay, wherever they sit. The 40 printed elsewhere is the minimum bet in credits — 25 for the base game plus 15 for the Super Feature. Confirm it on the ways-pay screen.

04

Can I win real money playing 5 Frogs?

On a casino floor, yes — it is a cash-play cabinet in licensed properties. Online in the US, no state-licensed lobby carried it when we checked on 8 August 2026. Aristocrat’s stablemate Buffalo did make that jump, so start with the licensed lobbies listed above.

05

What is the theme of the 5 Frogs slot?

Prosperity, in the East Asian style: a gold lantern, a Yin Yang, a bonsai, a wishing well and a pink flower over the card ranks. Some published descriptions state there is no frog on the reels at all, which is why the title confuses people; the help screen settles it.

06

Is there an autoplay function on 5 Frogs?

The checkable source is the cabinet itself. 5 Frogs runs on Aristocrat’s GEN7 platform in the Viridian Widescreen, which supports a 13-button panel, so the controls you get are the ones on the deck in front of you. Read the deck and the help screen before your first spin.

07

Is 5 Frogs made by Aristocrat or Bally?

Aristocrat. One independent comp database titles the game “by Bally Technologies,” which is where the confusion starts, but every cabinet listing and every hands-on description names Aristocrat’s Viridian Widescreen. Check the badge on the machine and the credit on its help screen.
