Sword of Ares uses the same scatter-pays format established in Pragmatic Play’s earlier titles. There are no fixed paylines — instead, symbols pay based on how many of the same type appear anywhere on the 6×5 grid simultaneously. The more matching symbols land in one spin or tumble result, the higher the payout — up to the full 117,649-way grid if a single symbol type fills all 30 positions (theoretical). Tumbles remove winning symbols after each paying combination, new symbols drop in from above, and the process repeats until no new wins occur.

This is a critical distinction: the multiplier does not apply per tumble — it applies to the combined total at the end. Landing enough wins across a tumble chain to unlock the 15x and then applying it to a substantial accumulated total produces the large base-game outcomes. Bomb symbols appear as on-grid features during play. When bomb symbols land, they interact with the tumble and win system by clearing positions around them and contributing to the symbol count needed to unlock multiplier levels. The bomb mechanic means that in a single spin sequence, clearing events from bombs can create the symbol density needed to unlock higher multiplier tiers even when the initial symbol placement would not have been sufficient on its own.

The presence of bombs on a spin increases the visual intensity of that round — you are watching both the tumble chain outcomes and the bomb clearing events simultaneously. Five or more scatters triggering the bonus means the Multiplier Collection starts from a more advantageous position — six scatters trigger the bonus with the collection meter in a stronger starting state than four.
